In 2008 the German photographer Timm Rautert (1941) published with the publishing house Steidl a book (in German) about the visit that he made in 1967 to Josef Sudek (Czech, 1896 - 1976). The book has a wonderful collection of the pictures that Timm Rautert took during his visit. They provide an intimate view of the passionate 71 year old Josef Sudek working with his wooden field camera. It is remarkable to see how he handles his camera with one arm only -- he lost his right arm during the first World War. The book really succeeds in bringing the interested viewer closer to the kind of man that Josef Sudek was.
