Maasmechelen Village is one of those typical outlet centers that have popped up all over Europe over the last years. These outlet centers are always located in the vicinity of a major highway at the outskirts of a city. In many cases the shops in these centers are housed in rather typical buildings. Buildings that seem to borrow style elements from all over the world, but do not fit anywhere in particular.
For photographers this world of fashion marketing, funny buildings and people offers many opportunities for great pictures. However, the management of Maasmechelen Village does not like people with cameras. I have tested it, and as soon as one of the guards saw my camera I was told not to use it. Funny isn't it; fashion marketing is relying on all communication channels, but here it is shy of a camera ... I do not get it.
